Re: Olive Oil Consumption

<pre>Hi Sadoun and folks,
I am following all the threads with interest. But being in Singapore, which is
just 3 degree north of the Equator, and in a small island, there is no way to
talk about growing olive. (^^) BTW, is there such thing as tropical olive (like
some grapes being able to grow in the tropics). Maybe, a dumb question.
As a consumer, I am interested in the costs. I heard from my European friends
that Olive Oil is cheap in Europe. In Singapore, a one-litre bottle costs about
S$9 (that is about US$6) off the shelf in a supermarket (mainly Italian and
Spanish Olive Oil). This is expensive compared to Peanut, Sunflower, Corn or
Canola Oil. Interestingly, the other day I saw a Canola Oil + Olive Oil bottle.
I was just wondering how low could the price go in a small place like ours.
Hope I am not causing too much noise.
But I am learning. Cheers!
