Women in South Australia already had the vote in 1902 - they got it
in 1893 or 94 hence the centenary celebrations. Also aborigines but that
was abolished with federation - one of the real black marks against it
(no pun intended). Other countries have had referendums or plebiscites
- Italy has had at least a couple. The last one to set up the republic -
something Australia is still trying to cope with.
