I think that the terms K232 and K270 refer to the ability of an oil to
absorb ultraviolet light in certain regions of the ultraviolet spectrum
(232 and 270nm). An increase in these K values can indicate that an oil
has been refined, or contains some refined oil, even though it is claimed
to be extra virgin. These measurements can also be used to detect adulterants.
