In Australia extra virgin olive oil can be purchased for $AUD8 up to
$AUD25/litre. Even more. But Australia is not indicative of world prices
because we have very little fruit about to process and we have to pay
premium prices for it. Up to $AUD1500/tonne. This will change in the
coming years as we new plantations coming on line over the next few years.
I understand the benchmark price in the United States to be around
$US5/litre for high quality oil ($AUD10) but I stand to be corrected on
this. Anyone in the States illuminate us on the going rate?
