Definitely in the right place. Just ignore the political comments and
weigh in with your questions. There are all sorts of experts here, (even
some who are eager to assist with answers to questions)

We have the same phenomenon in our shed too. Some oils, stored under
bench, are solid, but others in the same cupboard but closer to a
washing sink are fluid. We thought it might be the cultivar, the closer
is Frantoio, the other Manzanillo.

That has been our experience too. The "table fruit" cultivars seem to
hold the solids in suspension longer than the "oil" cultivars. They also
seem to require filtering, whereas the oil cultivars seem to clarify on
their own.

Yes, but there is still an amount of loss. The cotton wool absorbs some
of the oil as well as the solids. We use this wad of cotton wool for
tool handle oiling - seems a waste, but better than chucking it out!

I'll leave that to others. I have no idea, and no need to go to that
extent.
