<pre>Hello all,
I'm working with a couple small olive oil producers in
Italy whose oil I would like to import to the US.
I'm looking for guidance as to all things we have to have
in order so that the import will go smoothly. The have
never exported to the US; this would be the first time.
I have been trying to reach the US FDA to find out how to
get an FDA "Production Facility Number", as someone told me
the producers would need this, however I just can't get a
hold of a live person there. Can you help me understand
whether they need this and how I could get it?
Also, can anyone help me understand what other approvals or
other things I can help the producers get to facilitate
import into the US?
We will use a customs broker and freight forwarder to
handle customs. Also on that note, can anyone recommend
their favorite shipping company for an Italy to West Coast
US delivery?
