Re: oil extraction at home

<table border=0 cellpadding=2 cellspacing="0"><tr><td>
<pre>Use a hammer mill or instead a blender (strong enough to brake the
pits)to make a paste of 1 Kg of olives, then use your food processor
in low speed and add to the paste 20 grams of talcum and mix for 30
minutes, then add 200 mL of hot boiling water and mix for another ten
minutes; now come the problem of separation of the two phases; watery
and oily, I normally use a centrifuge at 3000 rpm, you can improvise
using a blender at high speed for periods of one minute and then
filtrate the oil from the top of the blender with a coarse paper into
a bottle, anyway you will be lucky if you get more than 20% with this
procedure.

As one of a number of growers with only a few trees I wondered if there
is any "kitchen method" for extracting oil from olives. Any ideas would
be most welcome !
