It takes quite a while for the tree to defoliate.
Yes, it has been cold and wet, but the trees are on a slope and there is good
drainage.
The soil is 4.5PH and clay.
We had a soil test done before planting 4 years ago and had all the nutrients
added that were required. Perhaps we should do this every year?
I haven't noticed worms, but the rest of the property does have them.
The trees have been planted for 4 years now and we got about 3 kgs olives on
average off them this year.
Thank you for your interest Gerhard. We are very interested in organic as well.

Hi Trudy,
A few questions that need answering are offered below. Some may not seem
relevant to the immediate problem, but all the variables that are likely to
impact on this symptom
Is the whole grove suffering or only isolated trees? How long does it take
for defoliation to take place? What sort of season have you had - cold and
wet? Are there 'wet spots' in the paddock? What soil type and fertiliser
history? Have you had a comprehensive INDEPENDENT soil test done (and this
soil test should ideally include biological status)? Are there signs of
earthworms and any other biological activity in the soil? What age are the
trees and how long established?
I am sure there are a lot of other questions to ask and many have already
been covered by the other postings offering opinion. Please let the group
know what you find.
Best of luck,

Thanks Russell. Our soil is very low PH and thought it could do with that.
Will get professional advice I think.
