There's just nothing new under the sun is there?

In preparation of the years to come we have been looking at various "waste"
management strategies here in Victoria. In the course of doing so we have
had the water analysed as well as the solids. This analysis has lead to our
conclusion that there will be no waste at all but will lead to the
development of new, or different, industries.

The Food and Agricultural Organisation of the United Nations recently put
out a document (FAO Animal Production and Health Paper Nr 43) which seeks to
summarise the potential of the olive "waste" after the oil has been
extracted. As we all know there remains significant food value in same and
to merely turn said waste into fuel (for burning) seems remarkably short
sighted. Particularly in light of recent evidence which indicates
anti-viral and anti-fungal properties as well in the leaves of the olive
tree.

With respect to the "insecticidal" properties of the water we too have
noticed the same and are continuing to explore the opportunities. Perhaps
our friends at Wagga University may be interested in doing some research?

For those of you who want to know a little more about the Aussie scene can I
inform you that our www site is now up and running although, I hasten to
add, it is still subject to frequent change. Would be glad to have any
comment. The site is www.victorianolivegroves.com
