My name is Carol Firenze and I am the author of a book: The Passionate Olive - 101 Things to do with Olive Oil. My book was published last year by Random House and I am thrilled that it is so well received.

My passion, ever since I was a young girl growing up in an Italian-American family, has always been olive oil. Growing up Italian, coupled with my interest in history and olive cultures, resulted in this book. My book has three major messages:

1. The history of the olive tree, the olive and olive oil connect everything. (You can bring up any subject and I will relate it to olive oil)

2. It's not just for cooking. (I have chapters on health, beauty, sensuality, spirituality, baby care, pet care, parties and special occasions...and a chapter of cooking tips.)

3. Read and taste. (The importance of reading labels, looking for seals of certification and tasting olive oil to ensure that you are buying the best extra virgin olive oil for your taste)
