<pre>Erdem I welcome you to the list and I have no doubt that what you may learn will be of interest. My home page (address below) will give you some idea of the prices at a retail level that are commanded (altho often not reached). "I hope I will have many friends more than I expected." This is a very strong and robust group. The answers you get here will be truthful, honest but will have a very healthy divergence of opinion. I do hope you end up with more friends than you expected. <pre>Erdem In Australia extra virgin olive oil can be purchased for $AUD8 up to $AUD25/litre. Even more. But Australia is not indicative of world prices because we have very little fruit about to process and we have to pay premium prices for it. Up to $AUD1500/tonne. This will change in the coming years as we new plantations coming on line over the next few years. I understand the benchmark price in the United States to be around $US5/litre for high quality oil ($AUD10) but I stand to be corrected on this. Anyone in the States illuminate us on the going rate? Re: Aegean Olive Oil
<table border=0 cellpadding=2 cellspacing="0"><tr><td>
<pre>Dear Peter: Prices in the US depend on country of origin, region, method of production, quality, etc...etc.... As a point of reference and to assist Erdem to understand the complexity of pricing his olive oil, I would like to state that I am currently selling to my clients a certified organic, extra virgin olive oil from Andalusia at US $600 (FOB) per 55 gallon drum and I was offered to promote a Californian, certified organic, extra virgin olive oil at US $1,400 (FOB) per 55 gallon drum. The Californian olive oil price that I quoted did not include my margins as a whole-seller. Both olive oils are of excellent quality. I hope that this is of assistance.
