Marketing of Olive Oil?
<table border=0 cellpadding=2 cellspacing="0"><tr><td>
<pre>http://www.nytimes.com/library/dining/120899stuff.html From the New York Times, Wednesday, December 8, 1999 International Olive Oil When Gidon Blumenfeld emigrated from Israel to New Zealand's South Island in 1986, he brought olive plants with him. He planted a grove in the Marlborough region, which is known for its wine, and imported an olive oil press from Italy. His first olive oil was produced in 1990, and now his product has arrived in New York. Blumenfeld, who died in 1991, did not get to experience his success, but the two families who bought his company have kept his name on the olive oil from his grove. Blumenfeld oil is cold-pressed, extra virgin, and more gold than green. But it offers something a bit different, at a fairly reasonable price: $12.99 for 375 milliliters. Though it feels somewhat viscous on the palate, it has a light taste. Combined with Champagne vinegar, it makes a lovely vinaigrette. The oil is at Balducci's, 424 Avenue of the Americas (Ninth Street). </pre> </td></tr></table> |
