Bottling and labelling Olive Oil

<table border=0 cellpadding=2 cellspacing="0"><tr><td>
<pre>Dear Group
I live in Auckland New Zealand.
I will have about 10 litres of olive oil to market this year. Where is the best
place for me to go to get labels made up in a small quantity, or in a cheap way.
And also to get a small amount say fifty 200 ml bottles? I want to have a go at
marketing it.
Thanks
Trish

<pre>Design on a PC using a graphics program and print directly onto sticky
labels.
That way you will only have the design costs.
Paying a printer for 50 labels would be hugely expensive.
i can recommend label designers in AKL who could do this for you.

Many thanks

Try and any of the boutique deli stores or the Olive shop in Newmarket
across the road from 277 Broadway mall. The problem is you don't really have
enuff to do a full marketing program.

<pre>Dear Trish:

I would highly recommend that you follow the advise that you have already
been given by other members of our list in regards to marketing your 10
littersof olive oil.

To give you an idea of what it takes to introduce a new olive oil in the US
specialty store market, in January, 2000, we imported one of the best olive
oils I have ever tasted in my life to the US. Since then we have shipped to
potential clients/olive oil seminar organizers/olive oil institutes/food
editors of culinary and daily press publications,...etc., at our expense,
over 70 liters of it as promotional samples at no charge. I strongly believe
that marketing your olive oil at a reputable specialty store in Wellington
or Auckland will be the best investment of time and money for you at this
time.

I hope that this is of assistance.

Sincerely,
Constantine Alexander

RE: Bottling and labelling Olive Oil

<table border=0 cellpadding=2 cellspacing="0"><tr><td>
<pre>Dear Trish,

I would suggest that you because you have a limited
amount of olive oil that you position your product as a super premium high
value-low volume product. I would imagine that as your olive oil yield has
been quite low that you have invested a lot of time and care in the
selection of your trees, site/orchard, and your method of oil pressing. Bear
in mind that because you are producing a limited quantity that this is not a
negative, but be selective about where you distribute. You will probably be
looking for consumers who are looking for 'organic' premium extra virgin
oil; they may not only just want to use it in cooking, but may also want to
take it orally as a way of receiving the omega-3 which is naturally
contained in the oil (think features-benefits). I would also suggest that
you create a SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats) analysis
of your product and the market/competitors who you will be competing with.
The other consideration is what size bottle, 150ml, and 100ml? Think value
not volume. I am probably waffling now but I would also suggest that your
distribution channel can be limited to the likes of 'premium health food
stores' or even top international hotels gift shops, remember NZ, clean and
green!!!

Good luck, I will be in Auckland in September so
hopefully I will see your product on shelf, but what's the products name??
Make it simple and easy to remember but with a relationship to the product.
All the best, Clinton.

Hi-raera (bugger can't remember how to spell goodbye
in Maori)

Thanks in advance, Clinton.

Dear Clinton
Many thanks indeed for your help. The oil
will be premium grade, I am only
taking 10litres out of my pressing to 'have
a go' at marketing. The rest has
been contracted to the company pressing the
oil. The trees are only up to
three years old and this is my first
pressing off of a small number of
trees which have started to bear fruit. I
should get about 2 tonnes. The
label will have 'Waihopai Valley Olives' on
it. As yet I haven't designed
it.My company is Waihopai Valley Olives Ltd
and it is in the Waihopai Valley
near Blenheim in Marlborough. The grape
growing area. I have around 3000
trees, so hope to develop my markets over
time, and take more of the oil
myself.
Regards
Trish
(Au Revoir) I don't know Maori either.
