Computer viruses are easy to avoid if....
<table border=0 cellpadding=2 cellspacing="0"><tr><td>
<pre>Jamal and List: The simple way to avoid almost all computer virus and worm contamination: 1. NEVER open any attachment to an e-mail from someone you don't know or aren't expecting a specific attachment from. 2. If you have a way of previewing a suspicious e-mail without actually opening it, do so. If the message in the e-mail sounds suspicious, DELETE the message and then DELETE it from your computer's wastebasket or deleted files area. Don't let the message or the attachment sit anywhere on your computer. 3. NEVER open an attachment ending with .exe 4. PLEASE get good quality anti-virus software such as Norton or McAfee. Don't allow yourself to be a victim or become part of the problem by not taking precautions. 5. Be aware that anyone who uses Microsoft Outlook as their e-mail program can be easily victimized. Many of the typical virus and worm programs exploit serious security flaws engineered into Outlook. This means that you can easily receive an infected e-mail from someone you know. If the message in the e-mail doesn't sound like it came from the sender, delete or quarantine the e-mail until you can confirm it's authenticity. Personally, I do not use Microsoft Outlook any more for my e-mail program because of these security flaws. 6. Take responsibility for your own protection and ASK your Internet service provider about their security from hackers and viruses. Follow these easy steps and you will eliminate 99% of your risks and your need to worry about them. I hope this helps the community. Best regards from Texas, Ed Kliman </pre> </td></tr></table> |

<pre>Yes, Gareth, but some of us want REAL computing power (he said with tongue firmly planted in cheek!) 8. Use Netscape as your browser and the email segment of Netscape too. Certainly not susceptible to the Outlook Express "mail list" viruses.
