working in Italian olive groves.
<table border=0 cellpadding=2 cellspacing="0"><tr><td>
<pre>July is the season for holidays to the mountains or the beach not for work in the olive grove. The start of the year is in November with the olive harvest. The larger growers go straight on with pruning which provides employment until April on even May. There is always a demand for good pruners. Most of the olives in Italy are grown in the south - Pulgia, Campagnia, etc. This is also a region of large growers who employ many casual workers. To work legally you need an Italian passport (but this will make you liable to military service) or a visa and work permit. It the past most casuals were illegals but there has been an effort on the part of the last government to issue more visas and work permits for agricultural workers. What the new government will do is anybody's guess. Most come from Africa and the workers from Sfax are best known for their olive grove skills but I don't think US applicants are excluded. Cheers Brian Chatterton. </pre> </td></tr></table> |
