    <pre>Hello all,

We are olive growers in South Australia trying to maintain a clean trunk on
our olive trees. We have a constant battle to remove suckers at the base of
the tree. We have tried chemical control to burn them off and also pruning
them off by hand. Both of these methods only provide short-lived control.
Could anyone please inform me of any options to deal with this problem.

    Thanks in anticipation,

I only get this problem when the tree is under some sort of stress, usually
water deprivation, which I have had plenty of with the drought.
I have only got Signore (FS 17) trees .Yours may react differently.
