industry success factors

<table border=0 cellpadding=2 cellspacing="0"><tr><td>
<pre>I was doing a search of the Internet for resources regarding the Olive
Oil industry and came across your group. I am an MBA student in Canada
and I am working on a case study that revolves around the
manufacturing and marketing of olive oil. The primary market is
Greece
with possible expansion internationally - (perhaps the Balkans,
Albania, Bulgaria, Romania and Macedonia).

I am interested in determining the key success factors for the
olive oil industry? What resources and competitive capabilities must
a company have to compete successfully in the industry? Would they
be
different for the expanded markets in comparison to Greece? (the case
is set in 1995 - but even current information would provide insight)

I am hoping that your group could provide some feedback on this
issue.
Your assistance would be invaluable to my study group.

Thank you - in advance - for your kind help.

<pre>Hi Valerie

Start by checking out the article on the Greek olive oil industry in the
latest Odyssey magazine:

www.odyssey.gr

Things have changed a lot since I did my mba project on the subject, but
remember to take into consideration the skewing effect of all the damned EC
subsidies applicable to the industry.

You could also contact Constantine Alexander, a mine of information on (esp.
Greek) olive oil, at:

PapaAlexander@yahoo.com

or subscribe to his OliveTreeWorld@yahoogroups.com by highlighting the
following:

OliveTreeWorld-subscribe@yahoogroups.com

Best of luck, and let me know how things pan out.
