<pre>Hi Nick, I thought I'd make an attempt to clarify Mark's post about his oil selling for $350.00 (I think). In Mark's defence, his oil was part of a charity auction. The fact that the promoters raised alot of money for his oil is a testament to the "charity auction" organisers and the public who so generously supported the cause. Quite clearly the oil is not worth that sort of money, I don't think Mark was trying to say it was, just that the whole evening was a huge success. I recently attended a charity auction for the local school, and saw a man pay $650.00 for a signed Port Power jumper. (this was not worth it, in my opinion). My point is that he donated a bottle of his oil for a charity auction to raise money for drought affected farmers. Obviously attendees were in a giving mood and one generously donated $350.00 to the cause and received a bottle of this excellent oil in return. I don't believe we should be condemning him for this, Kind regards Lisa ----- Original Message ----- From: "sodium_9" <sodium@...> To: <OliveOil@yahoogroups.com> Sent: Friday, November 15, 2002 8:49 AM Subject: [OliveOil] Re: re:Record price for Olive Oil > --- In OliveOil@y..., Roger Farquhar <rogfarlandsc@o...> wrote: > > > > gee thats a bit close mate > > > > theres a charity auction for aid for drought affected farmers and > you > > got a good price? > > > > what else you got on special, T shirts, socks? > > yeah i agree, that post was tawdry and opportunistic. > > in fact, i think that's one olive oil i will be staying away from > just on principle. > > na > > > > ************************************************** > Post message: OliveOil@yahoogroups.com > Subscribe: OliveOil-subscribe@yahoogroups.com > Unsubscribe: OliveOil-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.com > Moderators: OliveOil-owner@yahoogroups.com > > Only 108 votes so far....
