Information on the Economics of Olives
<table border=0 cellpadding=2 cellspacing="0"><tr><td>
<pre>Dear Olive people, being a rather new member of the olive community, I would like to know from you what might be good sources to obtain information on the economics of olives from. My interest goes in the following direction: - what is the world wide production / consumption of olive oil / table olives - in total amounts - by major olive countries, e.g. spain, italy, greece, israel, maroc - what is the average size of an olive producer - in terms of acres of land owned, number of trees owned, tons of olives harvested, liters of olive oil produced - what are the main influences on the productivity of olive trees, e.g. kind of tree, climate - is there any information on how many kilos of olives can be harvested on average by the various types of trees - is there any information on how many kilos of olives are needed to produce a liter of olive oil If you could give me any hint (www-adress, books, magazine articles, governmental or non-governmental organizations) on how to obtain such information, I would be very grateful. Best regards, Thomas </pre> </td></tr></table> |

<pre>Though aimed for the Australian producer, the australianolives.com.au site I find is quite useful for information about olives in general. You can download articles from their site (PDF files) and they also have a book list. It's a good starting point. Here are the links: http://www.australianolives.com.au/factsheet.html http://www.australianolives.com.au/books.html >From: "Thomas Garanin" <Thomas.Garanin@knuut.de> >...I would like to know from >you what might be good sources to obtain information on the economics of >olives from. </pre> </td></tr></table> |
