Photo of olives on the tree needed- can anyone help?
<table border=0 cellpadding=2 cellspacing="0"><tr><td>
<pre>Hi everyone, Its been a long time since I posted here, and I'm sure I've missed loads, so I'll reintroduce myself briefly. I'm in Wales, and though I'm longing to grow olives, my couple of attempts at growing them in pots has failed when the weather turns bad. My main interest is in ancient perfumery, and most of my activity on this group in the past has been discussing the manufacture and availability of omphacion- unripe olive oil, which was used extensively in classical perfumes. I'm currently putting the finishing touches to a new book on early perfume and I'd like to include a good photograph of olives on the tree, and I wondered whether anyone here took photos that would be suitable for publication. I'm happy to offer a complimentary copy of the book or a fee for the use of the images, though I don't have a commercial budget so I'm afraid I can't offer the sorts of rates that the picture libraries charge. Many thanks Sally </pre> </td></tr></table> |

You are welcome to use any of these in exchange for a mention as the copyright belongs to the Hunter Olive Association. I could either send you some by e-mail, or post you a CD ROM with everything, whichever suits you best. I don't think that this newsgroup allows attachments, so I can't send them directly. Regards, Mike Wilson Hunter Olive Association. </pre> </td></tr></table> |

Well, I woke up this morning to a pile of really beautiful olive photos waiting in my inbox. People here have been truly kind in taking the time to send possible images and have expressed interest in the history of olive oil in perfumery. I just wish I could use all the images! I'm sure I'll have no trouble in finding a suitable image from the ones I've been sent. Thank you all so very much )Once the book is out of the way I'll try to find some time to do an article on ancient olive oil based perfumes and post it here. Sally </pre> </td></tr></table> |

Seriously though, I've learnt lots on this list even though I do flit in and out, and one day, when I've got time and space, I'm going to have another go at groing olives, even if they are little ones in pots.
