R: Humidity and olive
<table border=0 cellpadding=2 cellspacing="0"><tr><td>
<pre>Dear Saad, In Sardinia, in fields at just about 30 km from the sea, I experienced that in spring high rates of humidity or fog can produce problems to pollination to our local varieties (mainly Tonda di Cagliari) and greatly decrease the % of flowers on the grapes, expecially in areas with a few wind. The only remedy I can suggest to you is to keep a good K % in the soil, doing fertilizations if necessary. Best regards Paolo -------------------------------------------------------------- Paolo M. I began planting two years ago. My olive trees are 30 km far from the Atlantic Ocean, near Rabat - the capital, and we sometime have a deep foggy weather. The growing seems to be normal, but since I made no crop I can't say if humidity has an effect on it. Did someone experiment such a climate ? Is there some olive varieties resistent to humidity and to the parasites that come with it ? Thanks for your advices. Best regards.
