<pre>I would like to comment the question of Edward Faridany. On how many pendolinos have you observed the "odd crack"? This seems to be caused by cold during last winter. It should not create big problems, as olive trees are very resisteant against slight reductions of the bark. I have seen trees that have left a peace of bark a few inches large and they are still green. The important thing is that you don't cut the bark horizontally. It might be a good idea to disinfect the crack with FeSO4 (ferrous sulphate) or CUSO4 (copper sulphate), the same you use for the leafs. Pendolino come in your estimation as regards hardiness? Also, should I worry about the odd crack I notice having developed through the summer on Pendolino trees [15 yr. old] usually running from ground level to, say, 25 cms up the trunk which, at its widest, might be one centimetre? The bark is lifted slightly at the edges. Edward </pre> </td></tr></table> |
