Rutherglen Bug

<table border=0 cellpadding=2 cellspacing="0"><tr><td>
<pre>I have an infestation of Rutherglen bug in my olive grove planted
last July. The bugs are living under teh dead Cape weed. I have
found quite a lot of information on the net regarding the bug, but
wondered if other olive growers could share their experience. What
should I do to get rid of them? Remove the dead weeds by hand ( I
have 5000 trees so that would be a big job), or is spraying
successful - it seems that they hide under the weeds.
Any advice would be appreciated.

<pre>Meryl, have you notified the ag dept and sought their advice? As far as I'm
aware, Rutherglen Bug, being a foreign pest to WA, [although native to the
ES] is notifiable. I don't know the procedure from there. Did it come on
trees you brought in from another state?

And, sorry, I have no idea what one does about it, apart from strongly
suggesting you clear weeds from around your trees, which is a good idea
regardless of bugs. At the very least spraying or slashing would seem to be
good practice.

SW Aust.
