yields - McNab

<table border=0 cellpadding=2 cellspacing="0"><tr><td>
<pre>Italian literature (Prof. Fontanazza) says that about 4 - 6 tons per hectare
(about 2 tons per acre) can be reached at full maturity with a maximum oil
yield of 20%. The latter depends on climate and on the picking period (early
picking gives lower yield but better quality). These yields can be reached
under optimised conditions. Without watering during dry summers and with low
fertilisation, the yield may be significantly lower, e.g. 0.4 tons/acre
(2.4 kg/tree) in the 7th year. Consider also that yield depends very much on
meteoric conditions in each year.
