TRIANGULAR LADDERS

<table border=0 cellpadding=2 cellspacing="0"><tr><td>
<pre>I have read of triangular ladders used in Italy for traditional hand
picking. (Supposedly more stable that normal step ladders or straight sided
ladders) I have no idea what they look like or whether they are obtainable
in Australia. If anyone can give me any clues even a diagram I'd be very
grateful. If anyone does send a diagram it will need to be sent to our
personal email Woonona.bulga@... because this group does not allow
attachments. Hope someone can help.

Of course, you could always post the diagram to the files area (or
even the pictures area) of the list. That way, all who are interested
could have a look.

BTW, I have been off line for a week with a dreaded BSOD (Blue Screen
of Death) and worse. Good to be back!

Judith mainly the ladders are a single ladder with a 'third leg' attached to
the
top that moves around. The base of the ladder is usually wide for stability
and all three legs should have round plates and prongs for better holding.
They used to sell them at Mangrove Mt Packing House and are at Wood
Chuck Equipment (near Newcastle tel 1800 655 542)

<pre>Sounds like you're talking about an orchard ladder. They are narrow at the
top,
wide at the bottom, there is only one supporting leg and it swings freely from a
hinge at the top of the ladder so it can be positioned for the best stability on
uneven ground. I used to have a wooden one, but it is long gone. I did a
search and
it looks like they're aluminum these days. Here's a photo of one that I found:

I have no idea if you can buy them in Australia, but surely they exist down
there.
They are commonly used for picking orchard fruits such as citrus, peaches,
cherries,
etc.
