TRIANGULAR LADDERS
<table border=0 cellpadding=2 cellspacing="0"><tr><td>
<pre>I have read of triangular ladders used in Italy for traditional hand picking. (Supposedly more stable that normal step ladders or straight sided ladders) I have no idea what they look like or whether they are obtainable in Australia. If anyone can give me any clues even a diagram I'd be very grateful. If anyone does send a diagram it will need to be sent to our personal email Woonona.bulga@... because this group does not allow attachments. Hope someone can help. BTW, I have been off line for a week with a dreaded BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) and worse. Good to be back! Cheers John Attwood Tamworth NSW Au </pre> </td></tr></table> |

The base of the ladder is usually wide for stability and all three legs should have round plates and prongs for better holding. RE: TRIANGULAR LADDERS

<pre>Sounds like you're talking about an orchard ladder. They are narrow at the top, wide at the bottom, there is only one supporting leg and it swings freely from a hinge at the top of the ladder so it can be positioned for the best stability on uneven ground. I used to have a wooden one, but it is long gone. I did a search and it looks like they're aluminum these days. Here's a photo of one that I found: http://www.groworganic.com/a/images/.../GLA210_hi.jpg I have no idea if you can buy them in Australia, but surely they exist down there. They are commonly used for picking orchard fruits such as citrus, peaches, cherries, etc. --Brian M.
