<pre>Sorry John, my e-mail runneth over and sometimes I am not sure whether I
have replied to specific questions or not.

Alan Watt and myself are using an Oliomio 100 for our olive pressing and
those comments by Stan Kailis on temperature were most helpful. Thanks Stan.

This is our first season for using the Oliomio and help by anyone with
experience of using the machine would be appreciated. Any grower in the
region with olives to press, who may be 'lurking' on the discussion group,
could contact us with a view to pressing their olives.

Peter Caird, of Victorian Olive Groves (a free plug Peter) has helped with
his often amusing tangles with the machine and another source of information
on the Oliomio is Kent Hallett in South Australia.

I am about to head off to Jordan, Syria, Turkey and Cyprus in a couple of
weeks. Amongst other things I am planning to visit leading olive
grower/producers in each of those countries so if anyone has any specific
questions they would like answered, in the context of olive
growing/producing, I would be happy to do a little fact finding for you.

Jamal Sadoun, our discussion group mentor, has kindly contacted his
parents in Jordan in connection with my visit and I hope to find out from
them details of the Jordanian olive experience. Jamal told me that his
grandfather (1890-1967) started the olive business in Jordan.

Regards,

Phil Bramley

<pre>Phil,
If you are going to Jordan you might want to contact and visit with
Mohamed El-Kholy. I'm not sure whether you have
this planned. Any way Mohamed often writes for the Olive Grower and has
a particularly keen insight into olive growing,
and all things to do with this. I find him fascinating to read and have
exchanged emails with him and Zeineb.
I believe they are currently in Australia. His email address has been
published in the public domain so here it is
adkholy@hotmail.com.
I have not seen him in this forum so am not sure whether he
participates. He is very welcoming.

<pre>Having travelled around Australia on aregular basis and I hope to be in
the Canberra area in May, there appear to be small and medium sized
olive presses. Small groves are often sharing an oliomio whereas others
take there olives to mill which processes one to two tonnes/hour of
olives. I was laucky to be in Brindisi last year with the manufacturers
of OLIVIA. This will be a usefull addition to equipment for small
growers. The oil produced by olivia is at least equal to that from
Oliomio in taste, but of course variety is important. A big advantage is
that it runs of single phase electricity. Mt friend Sam Vescio will also
construct a set of wheels and screw press which is a must for the
tourist industry. Recently he fabricate a half tonne screw press for a
grower in Esperance WA (Graham Patroni). One batch in this press would
take at least a day and half to process with a 50kg Oliomio! Larger
versions of the latter of course would take less time.
