Dr. Budwig on flax oil
<table border=0 cellpadding=2 cellspacing="0"><tr><td>
<pre>Dear Shivani, In relation to your comments about Dr. Budwig, I would be interested to know whether any of her work has been published in peer-reviewed medical or scientific journals, and also whether any clinical trials on numbers of patients have been undertaken and the results published. A number of people cite her work as evidence for the beneficial properties of flax seed oil. However, they mostly refer to her books which, as far as I am aware, are not peer reviewed. When I searched under Budwig in Medline, I could not find any papers with her name on them supporting the health benefits of flax seed. If you have any such information, please let me know. Of course, even if her work is not published in medical journals, it does not necessarily mean that her conclusions are not valid. However, I for one, and no doubt others as well, would be more easily convinced. Unfortunately, my research background has converted me into a sceptic!>> Sorry to be slow in responding. Just now catching up on my e-mail. Dr. Budwig is not American. She is Swiss or German. Her books and scholarly papers were written in German. After I mentioned here the book of hers I read that was translated into English, I saw it appeared in a banner at the beginning of the list. If you read it, I think your questions will be answered. I do not know how you would get translations of her research. As Udo Erasmus mentions her research in his book, it seems he has read it and could tell you how to find it. He said she analyzed thousands of blood samples and tabulated the findings, etc. She received seven Nobel prize nominations for her work, so it seems her peers were impressed. I myself was most impressed with lthe results of her treatment. Even people who were given up for dead by their doctors, with terminal cancer, recovered. Due to the essential fatty acids in flax oil. Those with cancer, diabetes, etc. consistently lack the doubly unsaturated linoleic acid in their blood. Also the phosphatides necessary for the development and integrity of the cell membranes. And also a blood lipoprotein, a fatty acid-carrying albumin. Without these, the blood cannot do its job and disease results. Supply them, and the disease disappears. Part of the mechanism is that linoleic acid reacts with sulphur-containing proteins to form a product that is water-soluble and attracts oxygen. Even hard carcinoma tumors can be dissolved. Why have we not heard more about this? Probably for the same reason Dr. Budwig's lab was yanked from her. It was owned by a man with a big investment in the margarine industry, and she had just proven margarine to be highly detrimental to human health. He tried to bribe her, but when that failed he booted her and took action to prevent her getting a lab anyplace else. Time and again, don't we hear this same story? Most of those in power are there because they have money, and money is what interests them, not the welfare of others.
