<pre>[2/7/2000] EXPORT COMPANIES: LIO OIL The leader of olive oil export, the Lio Oil Industry is getting ready to go public. It will be the third oil company in the world after the Spanish Kopie and Greek Elias, oil companies went public. Last year, Lio company has 5% of the 508-thousand-ton world olive oil exports, and exports oil to about 20 countries around the world. With the 26% of Turkish olive oil exports, the Lio Company is planning to buy an olive oil brand in the US and to produce it in this country with this brand. /Hurriyet/ [1/23/2000] According to daily Sabah newspaper, Italy and Spain will have to write "Made in Turkey" on their bottles of export oil bought in bulk from Turkey. [9/20/1999] OLIVE OIL STOCK EXCHANGE IN EDREMIT The Ministry of Trade and Industry gave the green light to the Edremit Olive Oil Stock Exchange Project. Edremit Mayor Tuncay Kilic said that they had received a great many demands from the producers for the establishment of a stock exchange for olives and olive oils, which are of great importance for the region. He added that the project would be implemented as soon as possible. /Aksam/ </pre> </td></tr></table> |

Interesting! I hope we must do the same with all other oils, or Turkish lost a lot of Italian customers... Do you have an URL for that article in a readable language, e.g. English? http://www.sabah.com.tr is Turkish for me ... <g> Just to make some free advertising: the oil of Peter Caird is really good! Better than the one of my mother-in-law ;-) It looks like some Tuscany oil. Bye Marco Bernardini </pre> </td></tr></table> |

<pre>Hey Marco I am so pleased that the oil met with your approval. Are you sure it's not the Pernod speaking or is it a case of in vino veritas? Thank you for the endorsement. FYI the blend was 40% Mission, 40% Verdale and 20% Manzanillo. Fruit was picked when 80% of the tree was coloured from green and crushed at 22 degreesC using an Oliomio 100. Did you like the Bendigo Pottery Cruse? We have a new one for the coming season which will hold 500ml. Anyone want to import it? With the Australian $ being in such a parlous state we can be very competitive. I also have a Bendigo Pottery jug that holds 50ml - perfect for hampers etc. Bendigo Pottery by the way, is Australia's oldest working pottery. The romance of the blend of old and new! Are you sure it's not >the Pernod speaking or is it a case of in vino veritas? :-) Everybody here is astounded, especially by the cost declared to Customs! The only knowledge of Australia we have is from "Mr Crocodile Dundee"... >Thank you for the endorsement. FYI the blend was 40% Mission, 40% Verdale >and 20% Manzanillo. Fruit was picked when 80% of the tree was coloured from >green and crushed at 22 degreesC using an Oliomio 100. You must add to bottles a small folder explaining all this: it's really interesting. >Did you like the Bendigo Pottery Cruse? Nice! >We have a new one for the coming season which will hold 500ml. Anyone want to import it? We have a lot of ceramic producers here around (in Albisola, near Savona, and in Vallauris, near Nice), but I'm curious to know the price for these small jars. >With the Australian $ being in such >a parlous state we can be very competitive. Uh, don't speak about our Euro! Today our gasoline is at 2150 lire/litre (1.11 euro), 10% of our taggiasca oil, but still raising. I'm waiting for these new cars hydrogen-powered... >The romance of the blend of old and new! I suppose Australian History books are very, very lighter than European ones :-) Hovever you're luckier than us: everywhere we dig we found something "Roman" and we must stop to dig waiting for Archaeological Superintendence. To make the Underground Railway in Rome it takes more than 30 yrs, because Roman remains. </pre> </td></tr></table> |
