<pre>Dear Friends:

I thought that the following article from the Spanish Daily "El Pais" will
be of interest to the group.

OLIVE OIL PRICES DROP AND DEMAND SOARS

El Pais - Spain, Sep 11, 2000.

The price of olive oil has fallen in Spain over the last few months and has
resulted in high demand, including record exports of 98,000 tones in July
2000. National sales to the end of July were up 10.2 per cent on 1999 and
exports up by 25 per cent.

Production this summer has totaled 660,000 tones of olive oil despite the
drought which can be added to the excess 382,000 tones from last season.
