Columbus, Ohio Chef looking to press own olive oil
Greetings,
I am going to be relocating to Columbus, Ohio in the very near future. It is my dream to be able to press my own olive oil. Is there anyone out there who sells and ships olives to the Ohio area for that purpose? Mille Grazie, John DiGiovanni www.chefjohndigiovanni.com Last edited by johnat : May 8th, 2006 at 06:18 AM. |

Re: Columbus, Ohio Chef looking to press own olive oil
Hello Chef John DiGiovanni
My name is Michael Sideris..I live in the Washington D.C. area.. You might be able to have olives shipped from California or Texas..go to www.oliveoilsaurce.com for more info.. Best results for pressing olives is pressing them the same day you harvest..I have known fellow villager who keep their olives about a week or so before going to press..My experience olives start to ferment once harvested and quality diminishes the longer you wait..You will probably have to put them in some kind of water solution to keep them as fresh as possible... If you are interested in trying a rare, unique extra virgin olive oil, go to www.vordonia.com and read about my families olive oil..I would not mind sending a sample bottle for you to taste and compare to the olive oil you might have on hand or the oil you will press fresh. Good Luck Michael John DiGiovanni <moltochef@yahoo.com> wrote: Greetings, I am going to be relocating to Columbus, Ohio in the very near future. It is my dream to be able to press my own olive oil. Re: Columbus, Ohio Chef looking to press own olive oil
Chef DiGiovanni
Welcome to Columbus, OHIO. I have started this OliveOil group back in 1999. I actually live in Columbus, OHIO. I hope to see you or visit your restaurant someday. As far as pressing olives here, it is not feasable and olive does not exist in this region. If you want some good olive oil, you will have to deal with a reputable grower in California, or import your own olive oil. We produce the finest olive oil in JORDAN and maybe we can help you out during the harvest season.
