Digest USA oil importation
<table border=0 cellpadding=2 cellspacing="0"><tr><td>
<pre>Small producers participating to my site (the richest has 2100 trees, just like Jamal Sadoun's courtyard in Jordan...) ask me how to sell a 12 bottles box into USA, maybe with some cured olives as gift. I guess it's almost impossible, because shipping fees for small packets are so high that easily double the price of the oil; however I read the FDA and US Customs sites (downloading more than 10 Meg of pages...) but it's almost unclear about olive oil: I saw bureaucracy is not an Italian prerogative :-) These producers are "small enterprises" (1 or 2 people) with low income (mainly less than 5.000$/yr): must they be submitted to every strange FDA regulamentation (e.g. food labeling, analysis and so on) or there is an escape? Moreover, as you know, every time we press oil we have a different oil, because our pressing season is from november to march, so spring analysis are different from fall ones, and we must label each pressing separately. Can somebody give me a clue or, better, a URL? Thanks in advance! Marco Bernardini webmaster@taggiasca.com </pre> </td></tr></table> |
