Table/Oil
<table border=0 cellpadding=2 cellspacing="0"><tr><td>
<pre>Thanks Brian. Like you I have been saying for some time that there has been MASSIVE overplanting of table olives within Oz and NZ. We cannot ever compete with Spain/Greece/Italy in this respect. And this is before we take into consideration the Manzanillo which was, ostensibly, planted for oil. God knows how many of these have been planted but they must surely run into the millions. If they make oil then fine. If not then we have a dreaded surplus of huge proportions. And, unlike wool, we will not be able to store it for years awaiting favourable conditions. Certainly I would put in one tree to satisfy my personal need but would not contemplate for a moment a commercial investment in table fruit. The only variation to this edict would be if the grove were certified organic and even then it would be extremely tricky. Extremely!
