Oliomio Mush
<table border=0 cellpadding=2 cellspacing="0"><tr><td>
<pre>Hi John, I'm very interested in the bit about your friend and his ducks. How long after pressing did he feed it to his ducks? Did he let it dry out? Would it just be poured out into a bowl or tipped on the ground? Do they actually eat it all, or just have a bit of a pick through it? I've been waiting to see if any relies came back about feeding it to chooks, so if you have anything further on this I'd like to see it as well. Regards Matt </pre> </td></tr></table> |

<pre>Hi All, I have some feedback on Chickens & the waste from the Oliomio. We don't directly feed the waste to chickens, we spread the paste on the ground while pressing and each year when the season ends we plough it into the ground. We have soil that is full of clay and the pulp is doing a very good job of making the soil more friable. However we keep seven chickens, the cockerel is One of Seven, and the hens are two of, three of etc. (Any Trekies will recognise the naming convention) We let them out each day at around mid-day and their first choice is to visit the pulp, I cant say what parts of it they eat but they certainly show a great deal of interest. They also grow well and lay well, I cant say if they taste well as my wife wont let us eat them. <pre>hi there Matt in answer to your question they basically take the load of wet "mush" outside - tip it out on the ground and the ducks and geese charge in and eat (or should that be gobble?) it up. Remember this is from a small Oliomio 50 so it is basically a large bucketfull at a time. It is basically as the big bucket fills up so it is as it comes from the press. I hope someone has some info re the chooks. kind regards John bishop ----- Original Message ----- From: starczaks To: OliveOil@yahoogroups.com Sent: Wednesday, July 28, 2004 2:43 PM Subject: [OliveOil] Oliomio Mush Hi John, I'm very interested in the bit about your friend and his ducks.
