I have the opportunity to plant 6 hectares of olive tree in the center of Israel just nearby the Negev desert (see the area here). Irrigation will be available for all the trees.

With 350 trees/hectare, let's say I'll plant 2100 trees.

What variety would you recommend ? I heard that Barnea will do good.

With which type of pollinator ? Manzanilla could do it but with what percentage (10 or 20%) ?

What will be the average investment ? A young Barnea tree will cost about 4 USD so it will cost 8000 dollars for seedling + water + ...

How much water does a tree need/year ?

If I have the first crop in 3 years with 30 kg of olive/tree, I will have about 60 tons of olive that could give 10 to 12 tons of oil. With an average price of 3000 dollars/ton of oil, that gives 30000 to 40000 dollars/year.

Do you think my forecasts are realistic ?
