Barnea revisited.

<pre>Robert Thank you for the corrections. Perhaps there is a mischieviousness among some that I have spoken to regarding Barnea. I recounted same without being able to accurately source the material and I have no first hand knowledge of anything pertaining to the variety. I believe I recorded same in my posting viz "I would stress that this is speculative only and there is no available direct evidence available to me that would sway me one way or the other" with respect to disease. As far as our NZ cousins are concerned I reported on what I was told. A direct link would be valuable to Mike if it could be supplied. In this sense of opening discussion contrary to "orthodox" opinion I cannot consider myself suffering from "heresy". I simply do not hold an opinion on the particular variety save on what I was told by a principal of Agrolive, D Kahouli, some 2 years ago. This opinion is tempered by the fact that (as I understand the position) D Kahouli is no longer employed by Agrolive and thus the opinion is no longer valid. Notwithstanding all of the above 2560x2 year old trees were replaced with other varieties last year. Why? When paying a premium price (about $10/tree I am told) why would they be ripped out and replaced? The person to direct these queries to is Phil Ward of Cobram Estates who, I hope, is now on line and may respond directly. Or perhaps interested parties may like to contact him directly on the number previously listed.
