Oil Yield Recording
<table border=0 cellpadding=2 cellspacing="0"><tr><td>
<pre>Greetings … I've just read through some more of the messages posted here regarding oil extraction percentages and it prompted me to send this short note. For people quoting "laboratory yields" could you please always include the exact methodology used. There are a number of accepted laboratory techniques used to calculate oil content in olives: 1. Soxhlet Extraction 2. Goldfish Technique 3. Acid Hydrolysis However, I recently saw a percentage yield listed as a "laboratory yield" which did not use any of the above methods and from further enquiries it appears that it was done through a normal centrifuge located at a laboratory. The more consistent we can be in our testing and publishing of results the better for everyone. Thanks, Julian Archer Olives Australia </pre> </td></tr></table> |
