"New Mediterranean" sounds neat to me. It is kinda contemporary. Here in
the USA we have, as you know, New York, New England, New Jersey, New Mexico,
Little Italy... and so forth. Why not?

<pre>Calling the Bendigo area in Victoria "the new Mediterranean" is stretching it a
bit far - did you have anything to do with it Peter Caird? Bendigo does not even
have a Med climate, unlike Perth, Adelaide, Los Angeles and it is nowhere near
the sea.

What about something a little more original and something more Orstralian. Just
because Bendigo has a McDonalds you wouldn't dream of calling it "new America" -
or would you these days?

Phil B

By the way Peter, thanks for your box of evoo from Vic Olive Groves, it arrived
eventually at a neighbours place. I cracked open a bottle and had a taste -
delicious. We are sending you over a sample of ours this week. Will get some of
your VOG up to the Olympic Games this month.

It had nothing to do with me thank you. I have forwarded comments on to the
developers/promoters of the concept asking them to comment. Have also
suggested they subscribe to the group. Mind you, if we follow this to it's
logical conclusion we shall get rid of the various "Chinatowns" in
Sydney/Melbourne and elsewhere, indeed "New" South Wales will have to go as
well and maybe that's not such a bad idea. I note Jamal's comments on the
name so perhaps a reprieve is in order.

FYI it is not just the area around Bendigo but extends as far north as
Mildura. There are three local government shires involved.

Did you open the 500ml early pressing Verdale or the blend? Look forward to
getting a sample of yours.

<pre>Peter,

I have had a look at the site (last week) and I think the idea is good. I will
be showing it to our group, the Bega Valley Rural Tourism Network, this week to
see how other rural communities have "picked themselves up by their bootstraps"
and put some life back into the bush.

<pre>Maybe Ms Lisa is not that wrong after all.

I mean, if you like the name New Mediterranean, fine, but it sounds more
like exploiting another name and region for commercial purposes rather than
coming up with something original that identifies a specific part of the
world and its products.

Saluti,

Alberto
