Re: Olive Oil Soap
<table border=0 cellpadding=2 cellspacing="0"><tr><td>
<pre>Some of you may recall, I'm the person who did a stash of research on this history and making of soap using only olive oil as the lipid. I've experimented with the older cooked method, and with the more modern "cold method." If anyone wants my basic formula, I shall be happy to share it. Just follow the procedures which you would use for making any other kind of soap (especially safety in using the lye), and such directions are available both on internet sites and in quite a few books on soapmaking which are presently in print. Olive oil soap is quite a remarkable product. Because olive oil contains squalene, which is a naturally occuring compound found in skin and hair, it is very helpful for skin problems. I have three friends with psoriosis who use my soap, as it is very soothing for them and has helped enormously. My teenaged daughter has found that her skin is at its best when she uses my soap consistently. It is easy to make, and worth the effort. Also, the best oil for soap making is from second pressings! You want the higher acidity to balance with the alkaline lye. blessings to all, Betsy Packard Shelby County, KY </pre> </td></tr></table> |
