In EU it is legal to sell the pomace oil (sansa), only if it is mixed to
virgin olive oil and the chemical features of the mixture comply with those
reported by Reg.EU (CEE) n.2568/91 of 11/07/91 and successive integrations.

Moreover the label of this mixture must report the sentence: POMACE OLIVE
OIL ("olio di sansa di oliva" in Italian language).


This oils shows a very low quality.

Increasing quantities of (imported) Pomace are being introduced into our
market; we regard it as barely fit for human consumption, and I would like
to enquire whether it is permitted to be marketed as such in the EU,
Australia, and elsewhere.
