South African oil a winner
<table border=0 cellpadding=2 cellspacing="0"><tr><td>
<pre>According to an article in the Electronic Telegraph (www.telegraph.co.uk) on March 7, 2000, a South African olive oil produced at Morgenster Estate by retired Italian businessman Giulio Bertrand has won Italy's "coveted L'Orcioli d'Oro" against competition from Italy's finest oils. The full article can be accessed at the Telegraph: you may have to register to access the site - the easiest way to find the article will be to do a search on one of the key words above. Interesting stuff. Any Aussies entered this competition? Re: South African oil a winner

<pre>Victorian Olive Groves has entered the Golden Lion For Master Oil Producers competition to be held in Verona 16-18 March this year. This is held in conjunction with the Salon Internationale Dell'Olio (International Exhibition of Olive Oil) at the same time. Interestingly, the competition does not permit direct comparison with Italian oils as it is divided between Italian Oils and International competitors. Unfortunately, the oil I have for exhibition is now nearly 8 months old and there have been complications in getting the oil over there. The upshot is that it may not be exhibited.
