Chemicals

<pre>I understand that Supracide is used widely in Europe on olives. The cover
of the Supracide booklet says, "Controls certain insect pests in orchards,
sub-tropical crops, vegetables, cereals......and other crops as per
Directions for Use table." Olives are not mentioned.

The Direction for Use tables mentions;

Apples and Pears, Spring and Summer treatment.
Grapes, Spring and Summer treatment.
Citrus, again in the Summer.
Custard Apples, Brown Olive Scale, apply when pest is active.
Macadamia Nuts, Brown Olive Scale, spray in late Nov/early Dec.
Mangoes, spray in Feb and Mar.

I suppose the best comparisons are with apples, pears and grapes. At the
notes relating to apples and pears one is recommended to "ensure thorough
coverage of foliage and fruit."

Does that give us approval by exception to use Supracide on olives?

from Ian Rowes posting. Data includes much on olives.

<pre>Roger,
Tried these, they "do not have a DNS entry", which means that the site
does not exist as entered. Are you sure the address is correct as you
entered it? Are you still able to access them?I even tried going
further up the tree (ie I entered http://europea.eu.int) and that fell
over too!

To quote a famous astronaut --- "Houston, we have a problem."

This thread is REALLY interesting, it might lead to a dismantling of the
european subsidies, thus leading to "real" value procing of the product
and an end to "dumping" of product at less than the cost of production,
and levelling the playing field somewhat.
