Olive lacebug
<table border=0 cellpadding=2 cellspacing="0"><tr><td>
<pre>Some time ago, I think it was Mike Wilson who wrote that although he had read that olive lacebugs were active from spring through to early autumn his lacebugs had not read the manual and were still present in late autumn. I'm afraid my olive lacebugs are suffering the same literacy problems and are still present in large numbers despite the arrival of some very cold weather [down to minus 1c last night at the site of the heaviest infestation]. Can anyone explain the life cycle of the little brutes? Am I to expect that the adults will disappear at some stage and return next spring? If so, do they die off after laying eggs or simply 'go to ground'? Perhaps they stay on the tree in a somewhat inactive state and start to cause havoc once the weather warms up? What is the optimum stage in mounting an attack as I fear that I have been treating them too kindly up till now. Any knowledge or advice would be greatly appreciated.
