<pre>We planted table and oil olives in May this year. We are in the hills of South Australia. All our trees have lots of flowers on them. Do we let them stay on or will they drop themselves as the trees are so young. We did not expect any olives for about 3-4 years. <pre>Jeff & Trudi are your trees locally grown? grafted? I bought & planted some (grafted "mediterranean") last easter from a nursery near Gawler SA, they came some with fruit & looks like a 2nd crop coming on despite hares & goats feeding off them. Or maybe some are fruiting now & the others will wait for next year. Alternate bearing in the nursery! Roger Farquhar [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] </pre> </td></tr></table> |

<pre>Thanks for the replies. We planted Kalamata, Jumbo Kalamata, Frantoio, Pendulino and Leccino. They all have flowers, some more than others. The Kalamatas and Jumbo Kalamatas come from SA but the others are from Victoria. We have decided to leave the flowers on the trees and see what happens. We are also lucky enough to not have lost any plants, so things seem to be going well. Trudy Hollinshead [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] </pre> </td></tr></table> |
