There seems to some confusion in regards to tarriffs, etc. There is none
for US the producer who makes maybe 50% of what the growers in the EU
receive for their product. As to the new player in the black ripe
business, Morocco, a great deal of US taxpayer money was spent to plant
orchards and build infrastruce to compete with the olive grower here. The
phrase "charity begins at home" to me means the we should have a level
playing field and no more.

<pre>Anyone farming organically who can offer advice. Tips to replenish the soil,
getting trees healthy to withstand disease. I have 600 trees in catalunya,
which has been farmed using chemicals until 2 years ago. There are quite a
few of us in the area converting with an already sourced market in usa. We
could do with any useful tips.

<pre>Lots of compost! Compost is like the supermarket manger as Peter Bennet (a
well known organic teacher in South Australia) has stated. Compost directs
all the nutrients in the correct way to the plants. Of course there are
other things you can do also. Many organic farmers are using bio-dynamic
methods as well such as preparations 500, 501 etc. Contact your nearest
organic or bio-dynamic association.

Best advice is to get a soil analysis done and start from there.
