Bugs Bunny

<pre>This is it! Last year, we planted 4000 young olive trees on a beautiful piece of land (that is, in Uruguay). We knew. however, that we weren't the only ones to love this place, and would have to share it with those sweet tiny fluffy little animals called rabbits.... No way. Our think tank came up with a solution, which I must say, has prooved so far excellent. I only found one tree bitten, and that's because it didn't for some reason have its protector on. I´ll try to describe it, forgive the awkward English. We constructed protectors out of: a sort of solid but flexible plastic net (?) 70 x 70 cm (we ordered it in the factory and had it cut that size) a strong galvanized iron wire, 100 cm long. (we bought the rolls, cut the wires and straightened them ourselves) we bent the wire at the top. then, we "stiched" the net together with the wire (all family and friends helping whenever they dropped in for a visit) Thus, the circular protectors were ready. On the field, we put them over the young plant and the tutor, and stuck the remaining 30 cm of wire into the earth. The protector is being held by the wire on one side and the tutor on the other. And that's it. Well, you probably didn't understand my instructions fully - have a look at the attached pictures and you will! unless your rabbits are smarter and stronger than ours, it should work too - good luck. <pre>Hello Christa, Thank you for your advice. Can you please resend the snaps to my yahoo account - i did not receive the pics. Thanks. Regards, Julie apswain75@yahoo.com {Message from the moderators, Julie, and everyone else, The disclaimer in the very end of the messages tells the story ... The system strips attachments from messages before the moderators see them, so the message went out without the pics. As will ALL messages with attachments. Christa has been good enough to send the pics to me and I have uploaded them into the "photos" section of the website (groups.yahoo.com/group/oliveoil) where they are available for all to see. If you want to send an attachment, either put the content in the body of the message you are sending, or if it is a photo, upload it to the photos section of the site. Again, thanks to Christa for the information, I wish everyone a safe and joyous festive season John Attwood Co-moderator} [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] </pre> </td></tr></table> |
