Olive Lacebug
This is my first posting on the new forum and I am still trying to negotiate my way arround the new format.
I have noticed on my last walk through the olive grove the presence of numerous adult olive lacebugs, seemingly dead and fall from the leaf with the slightest movement.
If you catch them in your hand they move, although slowly, and are definitely allive.
Although the grove is within sight of the sea we are now experiencing night temperatures of near zero. Don't these little brutes give up?
Undoubtedly they go somewhere in winter as they reoccur each year.
Can someone explain their life cycle and habits so I can be in a position to spray at the most optimum time - which I presume is not now.
