<pre>I have a frind whom states she prefers to use olive oil as a skin moisturiser. She actually does not purchase lotion, she fels olive oil works best for her skin, keeps is soft & supple and moist. Is there is validity to this allegation? Before you respond let me state that the reason I am asking is because, while visiing her, I too used olive oil as oppossed to lotion. It felt good to the skin, I did notice my skin was soft and moist much longer than when I use lotion. <pre>Hi Mystery Person, For any "pro" scientific study you can usually find a "con" study to offset it. Your personal results are probably worth more in a case like this. If it worked for you, keep using it! Many people claim that olive oil is very good for the skin. My wife is one of them and it seems to work well for her. Extra virgin olive oil does have all those anti-oxidants and other good things in it. They heal from the inside out, so why not from the outside in? The skin is porous after all. Most skin products, on the other hand, are full of alcohols and various other chemicals. It's hard to imagine that they can actually be good for you. Just make sure you use the extra virgin oil because the various heat and chemical processes used to make plain olive oil removes most of the good stuff from it. (I bet that even the best EVO is still cheaper than commercial skin products.) --Brian M. <pre>EVOV contains a very special minor component, squalene, which posseses excellent moisturising properties. Also, ancient Greeks used to take baths in EVOV (it all used to be virgin in those days!) <pre>Maggie, Thanks a bunch for your input. It is very encouraging to hear from someone whom has also been doing this. I truly appreciate your input. You can bet I will continue to use EVOO as I have been. I like the results and I must admit, it feels very good going on the skin ESPECIALLY after a shower Again, thanks bunches for you input. And I will do my best NOT to go around smelling like a fish and chips shop. I prefer Obsession for Men. Peace be with you.
