WEST AUSTRALIA OLIVE FESTIVAL
<table border=0 cellpadding=2 cellspacing="0"><tr><td>
<pre>I think I should have posted my recent message re my Australian tour a bit earlier. I have received lots and lots of queries about the WAOF. It did not only come from Australians as I initially thought but as well from some other fellows in other countries. For those who showed interest and maybe for others as well, visit www.anzwers.com , make sure the selection dot is on Australia, and then enter the search box with ¡§mohamed el-kholy¡¨ and press for search where you will find three web sites. The third one is specifically about the Festival and gives a brief about the subjects of the seminars and all other activities that will take place during the two days. I hope as a respond to this message, that some of the exhibitors who are going to display their equipment there (be it processing, harvesting, irrigation, etc) would like to tell the members what they are actually displaying. Such events are really helpful for the industry as a whole and most importantly, people get together for views exchanging. Thanks a lot for all those who contacted me and who are going to make my tour very busy indeed and very much enjoyable as well. I sincerely like to meet people and come up with new friends whenever I can and I think this, for some of us, worth as much as the olives which bring us together. This message is also a special one for those who thought I have not been receiving their recent mail during the last 5 weeks or so. Contrary to what some believe, the busiest time in the year for us is during the second half of winter when we intensively maintain our soils, tend our trees and prepare them for a coming active season. So far we have suffered of a very cold winter for us but which was a wonderful one for our olives. Temperature fluctuation between day (18-22 deg C) and night (8-10 deg C) was excellent during the last two weeks with the indicated figures between brackets and floral buds started swelling one week earlier than normal.
