Who "owns" the Australian IOOC accredited tasting panel?

<table border=0 cellpadding=2 cellspacing="0"><tr><td>
<pre>Hi,

Re: the Australian IOOC accredited tasting panel.

I was just wondering if each person on the panel is an autonomous
entity who carries the accreditation, or whether the panel as a whole
is accredited (rather than its consitutuents).

And in practise, do the panel members have the right to use IOOC
accreditaion if they are doing private or single person
tastings/blendings.

I thought we had a Panel In Training, not an accredited one.

If Accreditation has occurred then it news to me. When did it occur?

<pre>hi Peter,
The panel received IOOC accreditation at the 85th session of the IOOC in
Madrid on Nove 5-9, 2001. The Californian tasting panel, headed by Paul
Vossen, was also accredited at that session. The accreditation runs from 1
November 2001 to 31 October 2002.
A comprehensive article about this achievement appeared in the Autumn 2002
issue of 'The Olive Press'. If anyone would like to read it, please contact
me privately and I will email it to them.

from what I can gather its a done deal, there are both qualified tasters
and a panel. Under the site of origin/gwydir/origin
http://www.originolives.com.au/about/default.asp they say that "These
are then blended by our expert IOOC (International Olive Oil Council)
certified tasters to create a consistent fresh taste."

Further on under tasting notes "The company's tasters and blenders have
had international training and are members of the Australian Olive
Association Organoleptic Panel, which has been accredited by the
International Olive Oil Council."

They also give tree nos in Aust as 4.8M not the 7.5M in the AOA draft.
May be a different set of assumptions.

if this claim is made by gwydir, then it i think we should seek
clarification from the Australian Organoleptic panel as to what the
official position is when a commercial entity uses their
accreditation in their promotional literature.

yet another example of why this industry is in dire need of strong
and effective leadership

Ahhh! I am sorry but the whole accreditation success passed me by. I had
not paid
my dues, it seems, to the AOA and so missed it (TOP not coming my way as a
result).

Would love to receive it but would not this transgress TOP copyright issues
or do you hold the rights/rites?

Most sincere congratulations to all involved. Can someone tell me how the
Servantes appellation looks in comparison?

<pre>Hi Peter,

The AOA Judging Panel has now been accredited by the IOOC, it was reported
on in The Olive Press earlier this year. Please contact Mr Chuck L'Heureux
(AOA secretariat) and he will be able to fill you in on all the details.
Chuck's email address is: secretariat@...

Cheers!
