The Golden Olive Awards conducted by Olive Producers NE Victoria on Saturday 19
October was a wonderful celebration of the world class olive oils produced in
North East Victoria.

The Olive Oil Tasting School conducted at Benalla TAFE by Richard Gawel, the
head of the Australian Olive Oil Tasting Panel was attended by a full class of
15 growers and processers. Richard commended the entrants in the Olive Oil
competition and indicated that we had the ability to produce world class oils.

Zannie Flanigan a noted judge from South Australia and Richard Gawel judged the
Olive Oil competition and noted that no oils were disqualified for being faulty.
This is a real achievement for our 25 entries to be fault free. It also gave
the judges a difficult time in selecting a winner.

Results of the Olive Oil Competition
1st Prize to Commercial Grower producing over 100 litres went to Cobram Estate.
Cobram Estate were also awarded two Notable Oil Awards in this section
Cobram Estate received a First Prize for the North Eastern Victorian Growers

of his greatest achievements in the olive industry.

Paul Miller, the President of the Australian Olive Association address the

such wonderful oils and they will compliment the wines and food also produced in
the area. He also said that the Olive Producers North East Victoria had taken
training and quality control very seriously and this was evident in the product.
